Questions We Get Asked a Lot

What Makes You Different From My Financial Team?

We don’t “do the doing”. We’re the reporters who fill the information gap in managing  your investments, reducing your taxes and securing your estate.

Do I Have To Trust You With My Money?

Yes…but just a little bit…probably not more than $100. By law, we are not permitted to pay bills without you or your Power of Attorney’s approval. Once approved, then we pay the bill. All payment information is summarized back to you or your POA.

What Does “Structured Oversight” Mean?

We assess payment requests and evaluate their appropriateness or pre-authorization. We then seek your approval—you or your Power of Attorney—and process the payment. No dual approval, no payment.

Do You Make Financial Decisions On My Behalf?

Absolutely not. You and/or your Power of Attorney make all the decisions.

How Do You Reduce Financial Scams?

Private Financial Companions acts as an alert centre for fraud prevention. We stay informed through RCMP scam alerts and emerging fraud warnings from banks, and we continuously review your transactions for potential fraud indicators. We also use advanced transaction analysis tools such as Xero, connected directly to your bank feeds, to help detect unusual activity early and strengthen ongoing financial oversight.

How Do you Strengthen My Existing Financial Team?

We’re the “reality” folks. Your financial team is primarily focused on your future. Our reporting helps them adjust their plans to your realities.

What Responsibilities Do I Have?

You need to provide a Power of Attorney, someone you trust implicitly. You will need a computer and very basic skills to participate in video meetings.
